JAWS does not read any part of the test

Information
JAWS is running but it does not announce any headings or read any text within the test. Pressing a letter key such as B does not navigate to buttons as expected.
JAWS may not recognize the web browser, or you have multiple web browsers open.

To resolve this issue:

  1. If the student's test is active, suspend the test.
  2. Close JAWS and any web browser applications.
  3. Relaunch JAWS.
  4. Relaunch your web browser.

Note: As of July 15th, 2025, Firefox is no longer a supported browser. 

 

To prevent the issue, always launch JAWS before your web browser, and make sure you do not launch multiple web browsers.
