These data exports, or CDFs, contain two types of growth data:
- Growth summary data: Actual observed growth between 2 testing terms
- Growth projection data: Typical growth between 2 terms, based on the student’s MAP score in the first term of the pair
Growth summary data
The available fields with growth summary data are:
- Term to Term Projected Growth
- Term to Term Observed Growth
- Term to Term Observed Growth SE
- Term to Term Met Projected Growth
- Term to Term Conditional Growth Index
- Term to Term Conditional Growth Percentile
- Term to Term Growth Quintile
For example, one column would be Fall to Winter Projected Growth.
Which term pairs have data populated in the growth summary fields?
Data is populated based on the end term in the term pair. For example, if you order a CDF for the winter term, you will get growth summary data for term pairs that end in winter. In this case, that would be fall to winter, and winter to winter. Winter to spring would not be available and those fields would be empty. To view winter to spring growth projections, you would check the growth projection fields, which are described in the growth projection fields section below.
Since this is showing actual growth, students must have valid growth tests in both comparison terms. If you are just looking for growth projections, see the growth projection fields section below.
Where are these fields located?
The growth summary data is located in the following columns:
- Comprehensive Data File > AssessmentResults.csv: Columns AD through BS
- Combined Data File > ComboStudentAccessment.csv: Columns AK through BZ
Growth projection fields
The available fields with growth projection data are named:
- Typical Term to Term Growth
For example, one column would be Typical Fall to Winter Growth.
Which term pairs have data populated in the growth summary fields?
Data is populated based on the first term of the term pair. For example, if you order a CDF for the winter term, you will get growth projection data for the term pairs that start in winter. In this case, that would be winter to winter, and winter to spring growth. Fall to winter would not be available.
Since this is a projection, students only need a valid growth test for the first term, that is, the term for which you ordered the CDF.
Where are these fields located?
The growth projection data is located in the following columns:
- Comprehensive Data File > AssessmentResults.csv: Columns DN through DS
- Combined Data File > ComboStudentAccessment.csv: Columns DW through EB
What is the difference between Typical Growth and Projected Growth on the Comprehensive Data File (CDF)?
The Comprehensive and Combined Data files have two types of fields relating to growth projections. One refers to "Projected Growth", and the other refers to "Typical Growth".
Projected Growth
The Projected Growth fields show the historical growth projections. These fields are used to determine if a student has met their projected growth.
Typical Growth
The Typical Growth fields will report growth projections for the future, similar to the previous version of the data files. These fields are used to show what the student's growth is for future terms.
Which tests and which students are included in the MAP Growth Comprehensive Data File and the Combined Data File?
Comprehensive Data File (CDF):
The Comprehensive Data File is a compressed (.zip) file that contains two spreadsheets: StudentbySchool.csv and AssessmentResults.csv. It can optionally contain three additional spreadsheets of information: ClassAssignments.csv, StudentTestAccommodations.csv, or ProgramAssignments.csv.
- Includes student information for all rostered students with valid test events.
- Includes only Growth, Screening (2+), and high school math test types.
- Includes all valid tests of the correct type. Valid tests are tests that meet all of the following criteria:
- Complete
- Not excluded from reports
- Not invalidated due to rapid guessing, duration, SEM, or RIT out of range
- Within the district's term start date and end date
- Tests within the term dates but outside the test window will appear in this file.
- Students must have all required reporting attributes. Refer to Required student reporting attributes.
- Includes student information for all schools where a student is enrolled.
It does not include:
- Skills Checklist and K-2 Screening test types
Combined Data File:
The Combined Data File contains a subset of data from the Comprehensive Data File formatted in one easy to use file. It does not contain the optional information (student class assignments, student program information, or student test accommodation) that can be ordered with the Comprehensive Data File.
- Includes student information for all rostered students that have at least one growth test event.
- Includes only Growth, Screening (2+), and End-of-Course test types.
- Note: For the Combined Data File Screening (2+) tests will not show if the student also has a matching Growth test, e.g. Screening: Reading 2-5 and Growth: Reading 2-5.
- Includes only tests that are valid and within the district test window. These are tests that meet all the following criteria:
- Complete
- Not excluded from reports
- Not invalidated due to rapid guessing, duration, SEM, or RIT out of range
- Within the district's test window start date and end date
- Students must have all required reporting attributes to be included. Refer to Required student reporting attributes.
- Includes student information for school of record only.
It does not include:
- Skills Checklist and K-2 Screening test types
- Tests that are outside the district test window
- Student information for schools other than the student's school of record
For information on what data is included for the students and tests, refer to Data Export Field Descriptions in the MAP Help Center (login required).
How to generate data export reports:
Both the Combined and Comprehensive Data Files are ordered through the Data Export Scheduler in MAP Growth Reports. Users with the District Assessment Coordinator or School Assessment Coordinator MAP roles can access the Data Export Scheduler.
